Most recently, Betsy was the keynote speaker for the Mayor's caregiver Education Conference in Tucson, Arizona. Betsy gives book readings and workshops in many settings. Her audiences have ranged from families living with Alzheimer’s to professionals-- staff in day and residential care programs, community and hospital social workers, clergy and seminarians. Settings have included bookstores, broadcasts, care facilities, and professional conferences offering CEU credits, such as annual conferences of the American Society on Aging, and the Massachusetts, Michigan, and Desert Southwest Chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association. One program, “Voices of Alzheimer’s”, features a panel reading a 20-minute selection of excerpts from the book. Other topics include “The Hidden Gifts of Alzheimer’s”, “Mistakes and Blessings: A Caregiver Looks Back”, “Alzheimer’s as a Spiritual Journey”, and “The Grief of Dementia Caregivers: Words that Hurt and Ways to Help”.
